André Baldinger
type design, artistic direction
André studied typography in Zurich with Hans Rudolf Bosshard and type design at the Atelier National de Recherche Typographique (ANRT) in Paris. In 1995 he founded his own studio working on projects related to the cultural and institutional field. André received grants from the French Ministry of Culture, the Swiss Confederation (Federal Design Prize), the Centre national des arts plastiques (Cnap) and a residency at the Villa Kujoyama in Kyoto. In 2005, the Swiss National Bank invited André to participate in the competition for the new Swiss banknotes. In 2008 he established, together with Toan Vu-Huu, the design office Baldiger•Vu-Huu. André is co-founder/co-director of the research laboratory EnsadLab Type at EnsAD. He has taught typography and type design at l’écal/Lausanne, ANRT/Nancy and ZHdK/Zurich. He teaches typography at the École nationale supérieure des Arts Décoratifs/Paris since 2006.
Toan Vu-Huu
artistic direction
Toan was born and raised in Germany, where he studied graphic design. He entered a five years work experience at studio Intégral Ruedi Baur and associates in Paris. In 2005 he started his own design studio and took on teaching typography, visual identity and editorial design at École nationale supérieure des Arts Décoratifs/Paris. In 2008 he forms the studio baldinger•vu-huu in partnership with André Baldinger and is a creative director in a wide range of fields such as visual identity, signage system, website, film, animation, exhibition, editorial, poster design and type design.
Jimmy Le Guennec
type design
Jimmy is a graphic and type designer based in Paris. He graduated with a Master’s degree in type design from école Estienne in 2016. Afterwards, he started to collaborate with André and Toan for baldinger•vu-huu. Since, he is doing graphic design as well as type design for the studio projects.
Fanny Hamelin
type design, font production
Fanny is a type designer based in Paris. She graduated with a Master’s degree in type design from école Estienne in 2018. She joined the studio in 2020 and has been helping to expand the existing type families. She is in charge of font production and mastering, as well as helping with the designs from time to time.
