Bart Display Regular
In 2020 we were invited to pitch the new visual identity of the Opera of Strasbourg. The serif typeface family we imagined for this renowned music house combines Oldstyle, Transitional and Neoclassical elements in its design. The family is based on three contrast variations: Text, Normal and Display. Each one comes in four weights: Regular, Medium, Bold and Heavy. Special attention was given to the expression of several glyphs with the addition of distinguishing and rational details. A stronger stroke contrast counterbalances its straight side with an elegant appearance and delicate, right-angled cuts for drops or the terminals of some letters, wheelbase angles, square dots, and wire elements, contribute to positioning the typeface in a more contemporary aesthetic.
OpenType features include various Stylistic Sets: ss01 Negative Circled Numbers, ss02 Circled Numbers, ss03 Negative Framed Numbers, ss04 Framed Numbers, ss05 Alternate K and R (Italic only), ss06 Alternate a (Roman only), ss07 Alternate g y (y Italic only), ss08 Alternate s (Roman only), ss09 Alternate punctuation, ss10 Alternate arrows.
